My Family

Some long years ago, a baby boy was born in a town called Efon Alaaye located in the Ekiti State, South West Nigeria. His parents named him Ebenezer Olufemi. Some years later, another baby girl was born in that same town Efon Alaaye. She was named Rodah Aderonke. The paths of Femi and Ronke crossed in the late 70s during the Christ Apostolic Church Student Association Conferences, They liked each other, then they loved each other, then they decided to get married. With the blessing of God and in the presence of 700 people, they got married in Christ Apostolic Church Oke Ayo in Efon Alaaye on July 9th 1983. One of the best families in the world was created.

Exactly 24 years after Nigeria got her independence, Femi and Ronke had their first baby boy. He was named Emmanuel Oluwagbemiga Oluwatimilehin Monjolaoluwa. That baby was me. I prefer to call myself Mogaji Gbenga.I have three other siblings – Emily Oluwatobi, Ebenezer Oluwajoba and Elizabeth Oluwanifemi.

She is a virtuous woman, wakes up very early to prepare for her family, I remember when we were attending primary school, she makes sure that we eat in the morning and have something in our lunch box. She is a business woman and a disciplinarian, I can’t remember how many times we hid the cane and she will bring another one, but guess it’s for our good. Now she hardly beat us.
